NEW DELHI: In the wake of the gang-rape of a Swiss woman in Madhya Pradesh's Datia, tourism minister K Chiranjeevi suggested all tourists inform their nearest police station when they visit remote areas. He will ask home minister Sushilkumar Shinde to call a meeting for a more concerted effort involving all state governments in this regard.

Chiranjeevi directed tourism ministry officials to see the Swiss woman and her husband are put up in public sector star hotels during their stay in India.

After the news of the gang-rape was reported in the media, Chiranjeevi spoke to MP chief ministerShivraj Singh Chouhan and urged him to take necessary action to arrest the culprits. He also spoke to Swiss ambassador in India Linus von Castelmur and assured him that the woman would get justice.
