Meanwhile, Rajesh gets opportunity to fly to US. So, he invites his grandfather Narayana Swamy (Dasari Narayana Rao) to the city to stay with him. Narayana Swamy, being a village person creates a lot of problems slowly.
What are the problems created by Narayana Swamy?
How did it affect Rajesh life?
The answers for the above questions form the rest of the story.
Dasari Narayana Rao is well known as a director and actor. He has already directed 150 films and acted in several unique roles. The role he essayed in this film is also a very good performance oriented role. He plays the role of Manchu Vishnu’s grandfather who turns up from a village to stay with his grandson for few days. The comedy acts and emotional scenes he is involved in came out very well.
Manchu Vishnu did not play this kind of role earlier and he is okay in his role and he performs well in romantic scenes and he could have performed a bit more in action sequences.
Catherine Tresa is the female lead of the film and she plays a doctor role. She is good in her role and made her presence felt in songs and the scenes.
There are many other characters that are not present in the original version. These characters are unnecessary and make us feel bored resulting yawn!
Plus Points :
Minus Points :
The cinematography is handled by Anji. The cinematography in the film Erra Bassu is a huge disappointment for the viewers.
Senior person Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is the editor for this film. The editing is good. The runtime is little more. The 158 minutes is testing time. There are many unwanted boring scenes which could have chopped.
The music is done by veteran Chakri. The film unit has conducted an audio success meet but the audio album is not impressive. The lyrics penned by the lyricists are meaningful as per the situations and the Back Ground Score of the film is just average.
Story & Screenplay & Dialogues & Direction :
The film has been written by N.Raghavan. He is the director of the original version of the film which has been titled as Manjapai. The director Dasari has made some wishful changes to the story and screenplay and he has executed it. The story, though relates to Tamil nativity it also suits to our Telugu. But we feel that the makers have failed in executing the plot and making changes that meet the requirements of Telugu audience. The direction of Dasari Narayana Rao is very good and there are no comments on it. He has brought the best performances from all his actors.
Erra Bassu From Reviewer View :
Manjapai is one of the very well made Tamil movies this year. Raj Kiran performance is at top notch. Erra Bassu is the official remake of the film and the telugu version trailers of the film are a bit disappointing but the story of the film will definitely impresses you as you will be connected to it very closely. Those who watch the film as a straight Telugu film might dislike it because of many characters that are unnecessary.
Erra Bassu has a good story but was badly executed. You will end up with a boring face after watching the film.
