It was something like a hysteria...mass hysteria. From 29 December, 1989 onwards everyone in entire India started talking about one and only movie 'maine pyaar kiya' and most importantly they chanted the name Bhagyasri. It's not an exaggeration to declare that Bhagyasri is the only heroine in the history of Indian Cinema who has created major impact with her debut movie on Indian audiences till date. And then, Salman Khan emerged as the heartthrob of the youth with his ultra modern getup, muscular body and stylish performance. And today, he is one of the superstars of bollywood.
Ram Laxman's melodious tunes and the picturization of those songs were really great and can be watched repeatedly for many times uninterrupted without getting boredom. If there is a moment when the movie to be felt boredom, straightaway there will be a song and takes us to another world.
If we don't talk about Suraj Barjathya, the director of the movie, we will be the sinners. Teasing and naughty acts of hero and heroine, their love track, family background with innumerable characters, delighted mood of every character, funny games among the family members etc. were introduced on Indian screen by Surjaj Barjathya and were followed by other subsequent mega hits 'Hum Apke Hain Kaun', 'Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayange' and hundreds of movies with the same genre. And that's why 'maine pyaar kiya' has permanent place in the hearts of movie goers.
