Chiranjeevi’s Prajarajyam party managed a face saving victory in Boinpally division, Secunderabad in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation(GHMC) election results announced today.
PRP tried for an alliance with congress but dropped in last moment and fielded its candidates in 64 segments and expected to win enough to bargain for deputy Mayor’s post with congress.
Chiranjeevi organised roadshows in all 64 divisions and there was huge response from the people during his campaign.
PRP spokesman Sravan now says it has never thought it would win even the single seat. All that the PRP wanted to achieve by contesting in the elections is to assess its strength and work out ways to improve its position in the next few years.
But reality shows that PRP lost its votes percentage too when compared to last general elections.
Few attribute it to lack of planning, few blame it on nuisance created by Allu Aravind for his attempted alliance with congress and Few feel youth were not attracted as they felt Pawan Kalyan left PRP and politics.
Whatever maybe the reason(s), its time for Prajarajyam to sit back and re-evaluate its strength and position.
